Single Parenting Mother - Overcome Adversity
Single Parenting Mother

When a pregnancy occurs the last thing that we expect is that there may come a point in time in which we are raising the child/children in a single parent home. Whether you become a single mother due to divorce, death, etc. finding a counselor to help you through this transition can be of the utmost importance to you and your children. There are many women in our society that are raising children alone. This is no easy task and the more help a single parent can get the easier life can be.

We will be talking about how single father can overcome parenting issues.

The number of men raising children as a single parent is steadily growing. There are various reasons why this type of situation comes about, but no matter the situation seeking counseling can be very helpful for single fathers.

Relationship Counseling - Overcome Adversity
Relationship Counseling

Yelling in the heat of the moment is something most people resort to; however, this normally leads to marriage problems down the road. Your relationship should be characterized by an equal balance between giving and taking. Good communication is one of the most important keys to success. Avoiding yelling at your spouse will help promote good communication and will help keep depression and resentment out of the relationship. Relationship counseling can teach you ways to more effectively deal with your partner and build habits regarding accommodating both needs and wants for both parties involved.

Quality Parenting - Overcome Adversity
Quality Parenting

Good quality parenting is more important to a child than a good school! Let’s face it children don’t come with instruction manuals. They would be a lot easier to handle if they did; however, wouldn’t life also be a little boring? No two children are alike, even if they have the same biological parents and have been raised the same way in the same household. In fact, much of the time siblings are exact opposites of each other. Heaven forbid if a family friend makes a comment that one child is exactly like his or her sibling. It can start a riot to say the least.

Premarital Counseling - Overcome Adversity
Premarital Counseling

Given the ever increasing number of Divorces that occur each year is overwhelming. It is my belief that one thing each couple can do is seek pre-marital counseling. This allows way to “iron out” issues that could potentially end a marriage in the future. No one gets married with the belief or desire that one day they will be divorcing this person. You once thought they made their life complete. There are endless reasons and situations that cause marriages to end…having/not having children, infidelity, financial issues, conflict with extended family…the list goes on and on. It is human nature that when planning the happiest day of our lives we overlook the thought that we may need to be having conversations to ensure happily ever after actually stays that way.

Parenting Issues - Overcome Adversity
Parenting Issues

I have worked with many parents and guardians to help teach or improve their parenting skills. There are several different styles that are commonly used: permissive, authoritative, and authoritarian. In some cases, they may be too lenient (permissive). In other cases, they may be overly strict (authoritarian). In many cases, one will be lenient while the other will be strict. As you can imagine this can lead to high levels of conflict within families. It is best when parents are able to work together and meet in the middle at the authoritative style. To get both to a middle ground a lot of work needs to be done in terms of communication, compromise, and building structure. It is also helpful when parents can identify which style they use in order to understand changes they may need to make in their techniques.
